Snow Day!

Yesterday we had a very rare Snow Day here in Austin! The morning started with school as usual, but the kids and I were let out early, so we rushed home to play in the snow! Once Eden got the hang of rolling the snow into balls, she made 3 snowmen completely on her own. There were snow angels, a very brief snowball fight (mainly to pose for the picture below), snow graffiti and slick rides down our snow covered slide! So much fun!

We took a couple of breaks for hot chocolate and warm cookies. Levi called it a day a little earlier than Eden. His poor little fingers got way too cold. Eden couldn't get enough of it. In fact, first thing this morning she got dressed in her hat, coat and boots and ran out to check on her little snowman family!

The snow is quickly melting away this morning. Which is perfect, really. Just makes yesterday extra special. I don't think the kids will forget about their snow day anytime soon!

Today's Tiny Treasure: Eden is running around in her Wonder Woman costume this morning. Except she's not "Wonder Woman". Today the W's stand for "Whale Wonder Girl". I can hear "Whale Wonder Girl" upstairs taking care of her little brother who is pretending to be a baby bear. All sorts of strange growls and stories of imaginative play are coming from the second floor. "Do you want me to read you a story, baby bear?" The baby bear is squealing his approval.

Today's Tiny Treasures

This picture Eden drew for Scott and me. (Yep, she very proudly added our ages above our heads...thanks, bug.)

And the fact that Levi can now buckle and unbuckle himself into his car seat. Although, I have to admit this one is a little bitter sweet for me! It will be so nice to be able to jump in the car and go now - but it's yet another thing that my kids no longer need mommy's help with. They are growing up way too fast. Sniff, sniff...

Valentine's Recap

We had such a busy and fun Valentine's weekend this year!

The kids and I made these rockin' Valentine's. They had so much fun handing them out to their friends and I think it helped them understand that it really is more fun to give than receive! A hard, hard concept for wee ones!

Of course, they had their fair share of receiving also! Cute little wind-ups and love fairies from Warm Sugar.

My very favorite Valentine's were the one's the kids made for Grandmother and Granddaddy! Levi's little people are really starting to look like people and I always love Eden's little hearts.

I spent the Saturday before Valentine's Day at the rodeo with two of the cutest little cowhands a girl could know. My parents treated us to a great day! I have to admit, I was a little surprised by how much I enjoyed the rodeo. Mom and Dad should be proud - I guess my Texas roots do run deep!

And last but not least...my Scott and I ran a little half-marathon together on Valentine's morning. Best Valentine's date we've had in a long, long time!

Today we're back at life: laundry, picking up the house, Little Gym, etc. But, the sun is shining and we may be able to get some park time in - so I'm sure we'll find a Tiny Treasure or two before the day is done!

For Real?

Today's Tiny Treasure is really amazing! So exciting and so unexpected...

The kids are playing a new game. It's called "wash the dishes". They have been at it for 15 minutes and you know what? They really are washing the dishes. Really.

I'm Not Gonna Lie

As usual, I was inspired by cakies this morning to try to make some thumbprint hearts with the kiddos. Here is how Levi's turned out (mainly because he poked the paper with his finger a few times and then went off to play with his airplanes).

Eden decided to do something a little different. I'm not gonna lie, I actually got a little frustrated! I wanted thumbprint hearts, not red and pink "abstract" art (as Eden likes to call her finger paintings). I was allowing my plan to get in the way of her plan. Which, when it comes to art, really defeats the purpose, don't ya think? Sheesh, Heather. Lighten up!

One of the things that I love most about Eden (although at times it is challenging) is her strong will and independent spirit! She marches to her own drum! Who am I to get in her way?

So another "abstract" piece it is! Thank you for your beautiful masterpiece and the parenting lesson, Eden! Because of you our love can grow and grow!

Father's Day in February

Eden came down the stairs a little before seven o'clock this morning, completely dressed and ready to go! She wore her jeans with the hearts on them, "Because she loves Daddy." Today is Father's Day at the kid's school. She was so excited to have Daddy with her as she left the house this morning.

Levi didn't exactly jump out of bed. I'm sure he was excited, too. But, that boy can sleep! After several attempts to wake him up, I had to carry him down the stairs. Which leads me to...

Today's Tiny Treasure
: I love to hold my kids when they first wake up. They snuggle their warm little cheek next to mine and I'm certain it's as close as we can come to heaven on earth.

10 Things I Love About My Husband

It's February, so I have my one true love on my mind quite a bit these days! In a blog that's full of stories of our sweet kiddos, I thought I would take a moment to celebrate my very first love. So, here goes:

10 Things I Love About My Scott:

1. I love how he supports all of my crazy endeavors. Whether it's running or crochet, he always gives me the time and space I need to invest in my little hobbies.
2. I love how he loves our kids. He often tears up when telling stories about them, like the love he has in his heart just can't be contained and it overflows out of his eyes. Such a sweet daddy.
3. I love his dedication to our family. Working every day at a crazy job and dreaming up new ventures just so we can have the very best future possible.
4. I love his hugs.
5. I love his sense of adventure and love for the outdoors! Together we have taken on so many amazing things: wake boarding, rock climbing, backpacking, snowboarding, scuba, etc. He's always willing to try something new!
6. I love his eyes. Seriously. They are gorgeous!
7. I love how even after all of these years, he can still make me laugh.
8. I love our history together. There is such comfort in sharing so many years with someone. Everything we share (good and bad) makes our relationship stronger each day. He is my constant.
9. I love his faith in God. It has often amazed me over the years and keeps our family grounded.
10. I love that there are 100 other things I could write. I guess, most of all, I just love him. Fully.

Happy Valentine's Day, Babe!
